A Tamil ad sounds translated when someone writes it in English first and converts it line by line. We write the script in Tamil from the start, choosing formal Tamil, spoken Tamil or Tanglish to suit the brand, and do the same in Telugu, Hindi and English.
What is the difference between formal Tamil, spoken Tamil and Tanglish?
Formal Tamil is the written style, the one you see in books and official notices. Spoken Tamil is everyday speech, which differs from the written form in its words and endings. Tanglish mixes Tamil and English words in the same sentence, the way many people talk.
Which one should a brand use?
The one your customers use when they talk to each other. A bank or a school may want formal Tamil. A snack, a phone or a fashion brand often sounds right in spoken Tamil or Tanglish. If you are unsure, tell us who the ad is for and where it will run, and we suggest one.
Does this work for Telugu and Hindi too?
Yes. The method is the same in every language: the script, the voiceover and the on-screen text are written in that language from the start, not translated from an English draft. We make ads in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English.
What should I send with the brief?
Tell us which words must stay in English, such as your product name or a feature name, and share any lines you already use in your own voice. If you have a brand voice guide, send it. Then send your brief and we reply within 24 hours.
How is the text on screen handled?
It is written in the same language as the voiceover, so the words you hear and the words you read match. Every ad also ships as 9:16 for Reels and Stories and 4:5 for Feed, with captions that work with the sound off. See our storytelling ads for ads that carry dialogue.
