AI ads vs traditional ads in India: time, cost and results

Short answer

Both routes end in a 30-second film. AI ads skip the shoot day, so they usually arrive in days instead of weeks, cost less and are cheap to change, which makes testing several versions practical. A traditional shoot is still the right call when a real person, place or result has to be on camera.

India doesn’t need more ads that look like ads. It needs films people watch to the end. Spilanth Studio is an AI ads studio in Chennai: filmmakers write and direct every ad, and we cut each one for Meta Reels, Feed and Stories. Here is how that compares with a traditional shoot, in the five places the difference shows up.

Time: weeks to months, or days

A traditional ad moves in a line: script, shoot, edit, approval. Each step waits for the one before it, and a delay early on pushes everything after it.

We still write the script and get your approval first. What disappears is the shoot day, with its location, crew call and travel. A product ad is delivered in 3 days, and so are commercial and storytelling ads.

Cost: high production cost, or lower cost and more output

On a live shoot, a big share of the money goes to gear, crew, locations and permits before a single creative decision reaches the screen. That layer buys capability, not ideas.

In our process that layer is gone, so more of the budget goes to direction, motion and sound, and the quote is fixed before production starts.

Process: many approvals, or a short workflow

Big shoots need many people, and every one of them has an opinion at approval time. Feedback comes back as a pile.

Ours is shorter on purpose. You send a one-page brief. We send a script and a shot list. We generate the film, then check every shot with your product in it against your packaging artwork. If you’ve never written a brief, this template takes ten minutes.

Flexibility: expensive changes, or easy variations

Change a scene on a real set and you may book the set again. That’s why a brand often accepts one cut and hopes.

With AI, changing a hook usually means regenerating a shot, not rebuilding a location. So we can cut the same film as a 9:16 Reel, a 4:5 Feed ad and a Story, and try different openings. A pack of five is built for exactly this: same offer, five angles.

Results: one guess, or real tests

One ad is a guess. A brand that can afford only one version never finds out which idea would have worked best, because there’s nothing to compare it with.

More versions mean more real tests, and real tests are what make ads perform better over time. We can’t promise a result, and no honest studio can. What we can promise is five real attempts instead of one.

How every ad is planned: Honey Badger Marketing

Honey Badger Marketing is our strategy for making ads. Find the one feeling that makes a customer want the product (the honey), then go after it with a badger’s persistence: five hooks, formats built for Meta, and the discipline to keep only what works.

  • Emotion first. The pride of a first car, the relief of a quick dinner, the craving before the first bite. Ads that find that feeling get watched.
  • One angle per ad. Craving, relief, pride, proof or belonging. The right angle depends on the brand: a hypercar film wants awe, not a joke, which is why our Revuelto film plays it straight.
  • Make the brand easy to remember. Our Nofuss Whey ad closes on “No fuss. Just fuel.” after a gym session, a sunrise run and an office desk.
  • Test five, then repeat the winner. Run the five side by side and build the next pack around the angle that won.

Neither route is always right

A brand that needs a real person’s real face on screen should shoot it. A brand that needs five fresh ideas by next week usually shouldn’t. Read more in AI studio or production house, or send us a short brief and we’ll reply within 24 hours with a script plan, a price and a date.
